The lot features a fantastic circa 1870-1880's Sioux Beaded Indian Hide sinew sewn sheath from a child or woman with a provenance card from ex-Manitou March in Montana circa 2001. The piece is comprised of Indian tanned hide sinew sewn sheath covered in old glass trade seed beads showing a unique geometric "railroad" track like pattern showing a chalk white background with design in red white heart, cobalt and semi-transparent green. The belt sheath shows the top Indian tanned hide tie and long frilly fringes at the bottom. Overall the sheath shows nice patina with slightly stiffened hide with some suppleness, no major damages, some wisps of sinew seen from the beadwork. The provenance card is marked, "Purchased at Manitou Auction Great Falls, Mont. 2001 paid 178.- cataloge 2001, page 6 item 41." on the front and and old typewriter typed, "Old Sioux Indian child's knife case. 4" long white, green, red seed beads." Measures overall with tie and fringe, 13.5-inches long, the body of the sheath with fringes and tie is 4.5-inches long by 1 5/8-inches wide.
