The lot features a late 19th-early 20th century beaded medicine bundle pouch comprised of Indian tanned hide and beadwork from the Northern Plains Indians. The bag is comprised of thick Indian brain tanned Buffalo Bison hide with excellent geometric beadwork with the entire bag having a red mineral pigment ocher / ochre dyed finish. The bag is sinew sewn and the beadwork is also sinew sewn with an amazing geometric pattern with late 19th Century glass trade seed beads in colors of greasy green, greasy yellow and cobalt. The top of the bag has a zig-zag cut edge. The inside of the bag contains two petrified mammoth molars wrapped in a Beaver fur on hide section with small sewn edge and dark dyed back. Medicine pouches or medicine bags are exceedingly rare with this being a truly outstanding example. Provenance: From a private Montana collection curated between 1981-1990 from such dealers and shops as Bud Beyer, Ray Miller, John Helson, etc.. Measures overall 4.75"L x 2.75"W.*
