This is a fabulous Blackfoot / Blackfeet belt sheath and frontier trade knife having a studded design from 1890's. The piece shows a traditional belt knife sheath design from the Blackfeet Indians of Northern Montana constructed of harness saddle leather with a heavy stitching showing the unique triangular cutout to thread the belt through. The knife shows a wood handle with copper rivets, three on each side and thirty-two smaller solid brass studs with sixteen on each side. The blade shows twelve notches on one side and a smooth surface on the other side. The blade handle measures 4" L x 1" W, while the blade measures 4 7/8" L x 7/8" W. The sheath measures 9 1/4" L x 3 1/4" W. They show good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. It has a total weight of 6 ounces.
