The lot features two Haudenosaunee Iroquois beaded figural bird hanging pincushions both dated, one being circa 1898 and the other 1902. These are in classic Victorian and Iroquois pattern showing a dimensional stuffed bird on a perch with hanging string covered in wound glass pony trade beads. Both are dated in beads on the underside of the tail and both show beadwork on the other side of the tail, one being marked BIRD. There are also metal (possibly copper) disc beads and Czechoslovokian bugle tube beads as well. Both are on a stick perch with hanging stuffed balls and beaded fringes and both have a hanging string allowing the bird to be displayed. The birds are both well kept with little bead loss. The bird from 1902 hangs 15-inches and the body including the perch measures 8-inches long by 6.5-inches high by 4.5-inches wide. The bird from 1898 hangs 13-inches and the body and perch measures 7.5-inches long by 6-inches high by 4-inches wide.
