This is a great, circa 1900-1910 Arts & Crafts / Mission oak barrister stacking bookcase cabinet made by GRM, Grand Rapids Michigan furniture company. This unique lawyer bookcase / book shelf shows a total of five stacking pieces showing three folding up glass front shelves and a rare and unique bottom stacking original drawer and nice matched stacking top. The barrister bookcase was born out of necessity. Barristers, or lawyers that specialize in case law and represent clients in court, found themselves in need of a piece of furniture that could not only store volumes of reference books but also could be transported safely and easily as they traveled from court to court. It features three glass hinged doors that open upwards and a pull out drawer on the bottom section with two handles. Each piece is secure but can easily be taken off to add or subtract sections or for easy transportation. The back of the cabinet shows the original triangle logo reading, "GRM Made in Grand Rapids Trademark Registered". Overall the cabinet shows very good condition for its vintage age with very little wear and no damage present. The cabinet measures 4: L x 34 1/2" W x 54" H. The bottom cabinet measures 14 3/4" H, the middle cabinet measures 12 3/4" H, and the top cabinet measures 11 1/4" H. The bottom drawer measures 5" H.
