The lot features an early 1900 beaded buffalo hide bowcase, quiver, bow and arrow set from the Osage Indian Reservation at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, from an ex-Museum collection. The bowcase and quiver set is comprised of Indian tanned buffalo bison hide with the original shoulder strap showing sinew and old trade thread sewing with typical Osage block geometric beadwork in classic Osage coloring showing pony glass trade beads in red, light blue and white. The shoulder strap shows a few sections of fringe with wound glass padre and brass trade beads. The set shows three original arrows with sheet iron points and hewn wood with sinew wrappings, Turkey feathers and painted features. The set also includes a hand hewn carved wood 1800’s bow that exhibits a wrap of old trade clothe wrapping, old sinew string and old trade tacks. The piece shows some hide staining, with little to no bead loss and mostly soft hides, displays well. Provenance: From an ex-private Museum collection. Bow is 45-inches long, arrows are about 26.5-inches long. Bowcase is 35-inches long and quiver is 17.5-inches long without fringes or shoulder strap.
