The lot features a early-1900's Yakima Plateau beaded flat bag with flap showing a woman pictorial image. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide belt pouch with flap and Indian hide fringe ties, and is thread sewn. The front shows a stunning image of a Plateau / Yakima woman in fully dress holding a flat bag purse. Done in all glass trade seed and glass trade petit seed beads of the early 1900 to late 1800's with a greasy blue background and colors of corn yellow, cobalt, red, orange, Cheyenne pink, white and black. The fringes wound glass padre beads, number three wampum conch shells and a brass metal hawk bell. For a similar example of a Yakima flat bag with woman holding a purse on a blue background see the late-19th century Yakima / Nez Perce Pictorial Flat Bag from the Marilyn Eber sold by Hindman in November 2021 for $5,800 (w/ bp); a close example. The bag with the ties is 12-inches long closed, the bag open without fringes is 10.25-inches long, bag closed without fringe is 5 3/8-inches by 5-inches.
