This is a fantastic circa 1910's Panamint California Native American finely woven basket with geometric double-diamond rattlesnake design. The weaving shows fine detail and a classic, double-diamond (a diamond atop another diamond with a diamond inside) and single diamond design, documented on several other Panamint pieces. For similar pieces see the following: Panamint Basket from the James H. Schwabacher / Richard Manifor coollection sold by Bonhams in December 2023 for $2048 (shows the same double diamond), Panamint Basket from the James and Marlene Henerson Collection sold by Bonhams in December 2024 for $1452 (shows the same double diamond design), and the Panamint Rattlesnake basket sold by Allard in March 2017 for $4200 (with a stacked diamond design with internal diamond, very similar). This example shows little wear with nice patina and coloring. No major damages. Measures 8.5-inches in diameter by 4-inches tall.
