This is a wonderful circa 1920-1930's Navajo Red Mesa Double Sunday Saddle Blanket woven in native hand spun wool in natural cream white, dark brown, hand carded gray, and hand native dyed aniline red. The design features four corners of radiating serrated stepped diamond or shiprock design showing white black/brown, red and tan/brown. with the central field with banded design. Provenance: The rug is from a substantial luxury mountain lodge Montana collection who acquired their rugs from Hubbell Trading Post, Cowboy Connection, Garland's and others. The rug is well kept showing little to no major damages, even color, only one small nickel sized visible hole, nice even and tight weave with soft wool, visible lazy lines and beautiful clean design. Review pictures. Measures 56.5-inches by 29-inches. These early 1900 Red Mesa Double Sunday Saddle Blankets are increasingly scarce and highly thought by collectors with examples online being offered from $6,000 to $3,000 regularly.
