Featured in this lot is this Blackfoot Indian tacked sheath collection circa 1930's to 1950's. There are two knife sheaths and trade knives in this collection. Both Sheaths exhibit thick brown harness saddle leather and is adorned with brass trade tacks in linear bands, a documented pattern used amongst the Northern Plains in Montana, the Crow and Blackfeet / Blackfoot. The old trade knives sheathed inside show considerable age and wear with one showing pewter inlay.
Provenance: from the Bruce Miller Collection. The condition of this pair of Blackfoot tacked sheaths and knives is well preserved with some patina to the brass tacks and fading to the leather consistent with age and the blades show heavy oxidation to one and oxidation and patina to the thinner knife. The measurements of each knife and sheath are 12 1/2" x 2 3/4" and 14" x 4 1/4".
