This lot features a set of high top Indian hide beaded moccasins with hard parfleche soles from the Crow Native American Indians of Montana dating to circa 1930's from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The set has two original museum collection tags which are marked as such, "High top Women's Moccasins JME Crow 1930's #1915 $550.00" and " CROW WOMEN'S HIGH TOP MOCCASINS 05.09.25". The set shows brain tanned Bison Buffalo hide with cotton trade thread sewing showing period correct early 1900's glass trade seed beads with a classic floral beaded design. The colors are of greasy light blue, orange, brown, semi-transparent green, corn yellow and semi-transparent light blue. The bottoms and tops are sewn together, the tops area around the wearers ankle / lower calf with a fancy beaded border and tied with a long strand of Indian tanned hide tie, original on one and an old replacement on the other. The bottoms show a sinew sewn thicker parfleche rawhide hard sole with nice foot worn pattern, indicative of its early age. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. They are well preserved and in good condition with one of the two moccasins having a slight stain on top. Each measures about 9.25"L sole by 12"H ankle.*
