The lot features circa 1930-140's Cree beaded gauntlet gloves showing the Canadian Royal Crown on each. The gloves are comprised of Indian tanned Rocky Mountain Elk hide with trade thread sewing using old glass trade seed beads. The gloves have a classic whimsical geometric design seen with early Cree examples accompanied by each having a large Canadian and British Royal Crown at the center. The gloves show bead colors of chalk white, butterscotch yellow, corn yellow, red, cobalt, pink, semi-transparent rose, greasy lilac, light blue, orange, semi-transparent orange, greasy green, amongst others. The set shows a Maltese cross, royal crown, floral and woven symbols on the gauntlet and the tops of the gloves as well. The piping has a serrated cut edge and the outsides an Indian tanned hide fringe. The set is well kept and little to no beadwork is lost. Each glove measures 14.5-inches long by 7.5-inches wide with an additional 3-inch long fringe.
