This is an exceptional, large Navajo Lukachukai Yei rug with expert tight weave, handspun fine wool and large size dating to circa 1940-1950’s. This early Lukachukai Yei or Yeibichai rug has been professionally cleaned by Robert Mann of Denver, Colorado and is well kept. The rug features four Yei figures each holding a corn or spear stalk and is from the Lukachukai area. The rug is comprised of fine handspun wool with mostly natural vegetable dyes, a fine tight weave and surprisingly large size for a Yei. Nearly identical in pattern to the other mid-20th Navajo Lukachukai Yei rug sold by Hindman in 2022 for $4,837.50 with five Yei figures holding something between each hand with something hanging from their arms. Provenance: Sold by Allard in 2007 in Phoenix. Measures overall 63” by 43” without the tassels.
