The lot features a Navajo Lukachukai Yei rug with fine weave, handspun wool and large size that dates to circa 1950-1960’s. This Lukachukai Yei / Yeibichai rug features seven Yei figures each holding a triangle dance piece with corn stalk fringes off each elbow and dance skirt hanging off just the left side of each figure. Of the Lukachukia Trading Post rugs documented several show the same Yei figure holding a similar piece in their hand such as the mid-20th Navajo Lukachukai Yei rug sold by Hindman in 2022 for $4,837.50 and the example from 1930’s Lukachukai Yei with same figure sold by a Denver gallery for $6,800. This rug shows natural handspun and raveled yarns with aniline and natural colors, the Yei show colors of red, blue, yellow, black, white / cream, orange, turquoise, tans / browns, yellow on a heathered grey / brown ground with bands of black and red on each end. The four corners of the rugs each have the tassels in tact. The rug is well kept with a nice fine weave with no major damages, some slight wear, but very well kept. Measures overall 68-inches by 42.5-inches.
