Featured in this lot is this Montana wicker and leather creels circa 1950's. There are two creels in this collection. The first is a smaller wicker creel with a shoulder strap that shows a hidden compartment underneath the lid with wooden latches to keep it closed. The second creel is much larger and shows finer leather adornments with the same wicker construction but a much larger compartment for larger prospective catches when fly fishing. Both creels are unmarked. The condition of this pair of fly fishing creels is preserved with the smaller creel showing wear to the body of the creel and the hinge is broken but repaired with leather string with the larger showing some wear to the wicker woven body but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of these creels is 10" x 13 1/2" x 7 3/4" and 12" x 16 1/4" x 9 1/4". The collective weight of this pair of creels is 6lb 2oz. Provenance: From a prominent ex-Bozeman private collection who purchased the majority of his collection from Cowan's, Skinner, Bonhams, Morphy's, Sotheby's, March in Montana, North American Auction and other well revered auction houses.
