Featured in this lot is this Redheaded Duck decoy by Jim Mensing circa 1979. The decoy features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wooden and painted with life like features construction that is even textured and shows glass eyes. The bottom of the decoy is marked with Jim Mensings hallmark (his initials). The duck shows well crafted design with very detail oriented carving and make. With realistic shading to body, wings, and decoration to the head; this duck is shown with texture to the wings and head consistent with life-like features. Redheads breed in the northern prairies of the United States and Canada and the intermountain marshes of the west. They prefer non-forested environments with water areas sufficiently deep to provide permanent and fairly dense emergent vegetation for nesting. This decoy has a tag that states when the decoy was sold and what that date was; 12/25/79. The condition of this duck decoy is well preserved with some slight wear to the paint job consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition.
