Featured in this lot are six (6) editions of the "California Journal of Mines and Geology" including 2-booklets for Vol. 38, July & October, 1942, Nos. 3 and 4; Vol. 39, October, 1943, No. 4; Vol. 39, July, 1943, No. 3; Vol. 39 April, 1943, No. 2; Vol. 39, January, 1943, No. 1. Each has a map located immediately following the Table of Contents, "Index Map of Economic Minerals in California and the Districts Of The Division Of Mines". Fold-out maps of mineral deposits and actual mines are attached with some of the booklets. The California Journal of Mines and Geology is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the geology of California. From gold mines to oil wells, this journal covers all aspects of California's mineral wealth. A must-read for anyone interested in the history of mining in the Western United States. The booklets are in amazingly good condition, covers of both of the 1942 Vol. 38 have tears. Intact pages exhibit normal age tanning, slight tears observed on a couple maps. Each measures 6"W x 9"L, combined weight is 4lb, 2oz.
