This is a braided and hitched horsehair headstall with reins made at the Canyon City Prison in Colorado in the 1940's. The piece has a forged iron bit with a braided horsehair headstall and hitched horsehair ferrules. The piece was appraised at the Antiques Roadshow in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2016 for $1,500. The prison made headstall is in good condition. It measures 24" long with 81" reins.
