For your construction is an Original L. Cazzola Capodimonte Porcellane Principe "Il Pescatore, Limited Edition 239/1500, circa 1980s-1990s, made in Italy. In his late teens and early 20’s, Luciano’s talent was recognized by two prominent sculptors of the time, Volta & Alessandro Maggioni. Both of these artists took him under their wing and his talents blossomed with Luciano showing a keen interest in the art form known as Capodimonte porcelain. Capodimonte figures show detailed craftsmanship, extreme high quality and uniqueness which to this day are desired worldwide.
This porcelain piece is made following the Old Tradition of the Neapolitan School of Capodimonte. It is hand made in Porcelain and Fired at nearly 1270 degrees. Maker's mark noted on reverse, certificate of origin attached, Mounted on a stained wood base, manufacturer's name and piece title on an attached brass plaque, PORCELLANE PRINCIPE "Il Pescatore", artist's name carved into the porcelain. The whimsical piece displays an older fisherman having hooked a fish as his spinning reel has become detached from the fishing rod and he is reeling in the fish by hand. Intricate details from the little flower petals to the fisherman's shirt buttons spread from the fisherman's overweight midsection to the facial expression.
Original receipt of "Fisherman by Capodimonte" purchase and art appraisal lists the price as $780.00 in 1988.
