Featured in this lot we have a Carter Maker adjustable rolling foot stool originating from the 1880's. The piece was made by John Carter who was an Victorian inventor and cabinet maker. He produced a variety of reading tables, chairs, couches, beds, bath chairs, and more with many designs specifically aimed at wounded soldiers. Carter was known for his reputation of quality winning 20 medals and awards. He made furniture for Queen Victoria, The Prince of Whales, and Russian and German Rulers. The stool displays a leather cushion top with adjustable height system and rolling base. The stool shows a brass tag reading "Carter Maker 6A New Cavendish St London". The piece shows good condition overall with wear due to age. The stool measures 16" wide by 19 3/4" long and 16" at the tallest.
