For your consideration is this American Bull Dog boot jack made by John Poorman Company in Trimble, Illinois circa. 1940-50s. This distinctive figural cast iron piece is in the form of a mid-19th century pistol. This type of pistol was sometimes referred to as a “boot pistol,” because it could be easily concealed within a man’s boot. It is double hinged at the top which allows it to fold open to create a "V" shape to insert the heel of a boot which will help pull the boot off the foot. Embossed on both sides in an outlined oval is "THE AMERICAN BULL DOG BOOT JACK". Overall the boot jack is in good condition for its vintage age with some spots of missing finish throughout. It has all of the original parts, and it swings open and closed smoothly. The boot jack measures 8 1/4" L x 7/8" W while closed. While open it measures 4 7/8" W.
