Featured in this lot is an oil on canvas painting of a Yosemite from artist, Charles M. Doughty, who was born in 1878. The painting features a wonderfully and professionally crafted oil on canvas and wooden frame construction that has raised and textured decoration with gold gilt coloration. The painting shows a Yosemite National Park scene of a canyon with a creek coming from a waterfall in the distance with a slower moving river below with steep walls of the canyon leading to snow capped mountains in the distance. The artist's signature is shown in the bottom right hand corner. Charles M. Doughty was active/lived in Connecticut and California. Charles Doughty is known for still life. Doughty began painting in his middle years and was active in California in the 1920s. His rare works include Yosemite and Hetchy canyon scenes. The condition of this oil on canvas painting is good with some damage to the outer layer of the frame, but it shows good overall condition. The measurements of this oil on canvas painting are 35 1/8" x 53 1/4" and the visible artwork measurements are 24 3/4" x 43 1/4".*
