The lot features a fine fully top beaded Cheyenne knife sheath accompanied by a 19th Century Frontier Bowie knife. The knife shows a heavy iron blacksmith construction in a typical Bowie drop point and was likely a Frontier fighting knife. The sheath shows a parfleche rawhide core with Indian tanned hide wrapping that is sinew sewn and covered on the front with a traditional geometric pattern of glass trade seed beadwork showing all early period correct beads in light blue, Cheyenne pink, red, cobalt, pearl white. The sheath has a brain tanned finish with ocher coloring and thick Buffalo hide top strap. The sheath is in nearly perfect condition and has the manufacture style, pattern of early examples with an unknown age. The sheath measures 11.5”L by 3.5”W. The knife is 14.75”L by 2”W.
