Included for your consideration in this lot is a Cheyenne Native American Indian axe. The axe shows a girthy head, and a thick handle. The handle of the axe is fully wrapped in tanned hide, and features medium cut tanned hide fringe at the bottom. The handle of the axe is additionally decorated with steel tacks, and trade seed beads, in chalk white, dark blue, corn yellow, light red, and robin egg blue. The axe has a museum tag reading; "Trade Axe - Cheyenne Colony - Oklahoma". The axe is in good condition overall, with some looseness to the axe head, and a patina indicative of age. The axe measures 21" long including the fringe drops, 4 1/2" wide at the axe head, and 1 3/8" thick at the center of the handle. The age and origin of this piece are unknown.
