Featured in this lot is this excellent handwoven flat weave rug by master weaver Pedro Sosa using 100% soft fine handspun wool in an amazing Third Phase Chief’s Blanket pattern. The rug was handwoven with a tight weave using 100% locally handspun wool yarn that offers natural variegation and durability with color fast aniline dyes. Tight handwoven weave displayed with bold colors in blocked stepped and eye dazzler fashion with banded design to the backdrop pattern in the time-honored Zapotec multi-generational craft by a master weaver, Pedro Sosa. This bold and beautiful rug shows a fantastic Navajo Third Phase Chief’s Blanket Pattern styling with showing the traditional linear pattern alternating dark blue to black and in the center from black to white with the majority of the stepped design showing red coloration. This is a contemporary rug hand woven by Pedro Sosa, a Zapotec Indian from a small weaving village, in amazing natural dyes and wool. The condition of this blanket is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this blanket is 105-inches by 63-inches.
