For your consideration is a 1942 limited edition of "An Illustrated Record of the Stanley Charles Nott Collection of Chinese Jades" by Stanley C. Nott, Dr. Lin Yutang and Dr. Chin Meng, published by The Norton Gallery. These books were numbered 1 through 1000; This is number 128. In 1887, Charles Stanley Nott was born in Bedfordshire, England. He was a student of G. I. Gurdjieff as well as an author, publisher, and translator. Up until the start of World War II, Nott operated a publishing company in London. He assisted A. R. Orage in launching "The New English Weekly" in 1932. Nott passed away in 1978. Stanley Charles Nott was the director of oriental art at the Norton Gallery and School of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the time of publication, and his collection of Chinese jades was unmatched in the United States. In addition to one hundred and twenty-three line engravings created especially for the book by Mrs. Stanley Charles Nott from famous Chinese jades chosen for their quality, the book is illustrated with one hundred and eighteen full-page halftone plates that were reprinted from original photographs. The book was written as a guide for guests heading into the Jade Room of the Norton Gallery and School of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida. The book shows a green colored hard cover with the title and author stamped into the front and spine of the book reading, "An Illustrated Record of the Stanley Charles Nott Collection of Chinese Jade / By Stanley Charles Nott" on the front and "Chinese Jades Collection of Stanley Charles Nott / Stanley Charles Nott / The Record Company" on the spine. The book shows good condition overall with some slight wear to the edges, but no obvious signs of damage are present. The spine is tight and has little wiggle room and the interior pages show good condition with no foxing present. The book measures 12 3/8" L x 9 3/8" W x 2 11/16" D and weighs 7lb 14oz.*
