The lot features a Chipewyan Dene Athabaskan Medicine Rattle - The Speaking Thunder "Piaw-Sukaw-Ketutt" from the ex-Hootchoo Collection with tag. The tag reads: Chipewyan Medicine Rattle The Speaking Thunder "Piaw-Sukaw-Kgtutt" / Sub Artic Indian, noted for the mining & use of copper - copper has special powers, it helps with purification of spirit, blood & limbs / the chipewyan's copper medicine rattles were able to conduct & focus the higher energies that surrounded them - The Piaw-Sukaw-Ketutt (possibly Piah-Sukah-Ketutt) is also used to keep stiffness and weaknes away (on the back) Rain Deer Leg & Knuckle Bone for motion Dew Claws Copper for healing energies Feathers to bring lightness of limb / From The HootChoo Collection. The piece shows a Caribou carved bone wrapped in Indian tanned Caribou hide with dew claws, copper work Indian hide fringes and various hammered copper adornments. Measures overall 19-inches long.
