This is an original photograph cabinet card dated August 25th, 1899 and marked as being Crow Chief White Bird. The back is marked in fountain pen, "Crow White Bird (and) Family Chicago, IL Aug. 25th '99 (1899). The photograph shows Crow White Bird holding a Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Saddle Ring Carbine, the same that was used by the U.S. Cavalry soldiers. White Bird has a beaded feathered headdress, arm cuff and hair pipe bone breast plate. He is standing by his wife in a fully dentellium shell beaded traditional dress with concho belt and his child with hair pipe beaded breast plate as well. All three have beaded moccasins and are standing in front of large tipi lodges with another Indian in the background. The edge has some loss and there are a few pin holes as well as some foxing.
