Featured in this lot is this classic tanzanite and diamond, platinum ring with AIGL paperwork. The ring shows a polished, stamped, and tested platinum ring with a bright finish, in new condition, and displaying excellent workmanship. The ring shows a cushion modified brilliant cut tanzanite gemstone with measurements of 8mm x 8mm, violetish blue coloration, very good cut grade, and a weight of 2.96cts. The center stone and the triple row pave shoulder setting are decorated with 76 round brilliant cut diamonds that measure 1mm and have a clarity grade of SI1 - SI2, color gradient G – I, and a collective weight of 0.37cts. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). This ring is of the best quality available to the public. The ring size is US 7 1/4. The piece comes complete with AIGL Inc. (American International Gemological Laboratories, Inc. a GIA certified lab AIGL#: K33E13-EA14944) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $9,100.00.
