Featured in this lot is this classic tanzanite and diamond, platinum ring with GIA and AIGL paperwork. This ring shows polished, stamped, and tested platinum with a bright finish and excellent condition and workmanship. The center stone is an oval brilliant cut tanzanite stone with a total weight of 2.50 carats, violetish blue coloration, and very good cut grade. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The center stone is decorated with 16 round cut brilliant diamonds with a total weight of 0.52 carats, clarity of VS2-SI1, and color gradient of G - H. The piece comes complete with AIGL Inc. (American International Gemological Laboratories, Inc. a GIA certified lab AIGL#: K31E19-EA14883) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $7,785.00. The measurements of this ring are 1" x 3/4" x 3/4". The ring size is US 6 1/2.
