Included in this lot are four (4) Classic Western books from author, Will James. The four (4) books by Will James include, "The Dark Horse," "All in the Days Riding," "Lone Cowboy," and "Sand," with illustrations by James. William Roderick James, "Will" (1892-1942), was an acclaimed Canadian-American artist and writer of the American West. He is known for writing "Smoky the Cowhorse," for which he won the 1927 Newbery Medal, and wrote numerous "cowboy" stories for adults and children. His artwork, which predominantly involved cowboy and rodeo scenes, followed "in the tradition of Charles Russell," and much of it was used to illustrate his books. In 1992, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. These cloth bound books are in fair to good overall condition. The cover illustrations are stamped in black, and the gold gilt noted is mostly intact. The cover edges exhibit scuffing, and some spines cracked / separated at seams, yet tight with pages, "Sand" intact pages are deckled, age tanning noted throughout the books. Largest book measures 9.5"L x 6.25"W. The other books measure 8.25"L x 5.5"W each. Measurements are approximate.*
