This lot is a collection of two classic Western and Native American culture books: "Indian Civilizations" a brief survey of the history and culture of North and South American Indian tribes, by Robert Reading; "Campfires And Cowchips" a signed first edition of an honest, authentic, and objective history of Montana cowboys and ranch life by Floyd Hardin who for three quarters of a century , "personally observed and participated in the making of history of that prime rangeland stretching from Miles City Montana to the Buffalo grass prairies of Canada". "Before Barbed Wire" and "The Frontier Years" by Mark H. Brown and W.R. Felton, two (2) books written about L.A. Huffman's travels and most importantly, his photographs of the west and especially Montana from 1879 to 1931; "...he took many of his most important photos in the early 1880's. He did so with relatively crude equipment and technology, yet produced images of a quality that could not be bettered today. He photographed the West as it was - the unvarnished truth, not romanticized versions as depicted by novelists, artists and Hollywood. Huffman left an unmatched visual record of early Montana".
