Featured in this lot is a first edition copy of the 1899 work "Cleared For Action: A Story of the Spanish-American War of 1898" by Willis Boyd Allen, published by E.P. Dutton & Company. As Boyd explains in the preface, this volume "will be found to contain not only a record of the experiences of Ensign Rexdale, Engineer Holmes, and others, but an abridged history of the war in which they took part as officers in the United States Navy." This work alaso contains several pictoral illustrations. The book is in good condition for age and measures 8.5" x 6".
