Offered in this lot are two vintage photograph portraits of Native American Indians from The Coeur d'Alene Idaho Tribe. The first is a hand colored photograph portrait of "An Indian Baby On The Northern Pacific RY". This portrait shows a happy Native American Child in full ceremonial dress with her pet dog on her lap. The portrait was produced by Throssel Prints Billings, but was framed by Peder J. Krabbe Pictures & Picture Framing on 210 W. 13th, St. Vancouver, Washington. On the back of the framing is an inscription of the photo as a gift during Christmas of 1924. The photo is in a wooden frame. This portrait and frame are in good condition, with minor wear to the frame. The portrait measures 9" x 5 1/8" and the frame measures 11 1/2" x 7 1/2". The second photograph is of a Native American, Joseph R. Garry of the Coeur d'Alene tribe, in full headdress and beaded shirt, sitting for a portrait. Garry was an important figure in Idaho politics during the mid-20th century and he made a lasting impact on the state. In the late 1950s, he became the first Native American to serve in the Idaho Legislature. This portrait is in very good condition, but is loose in its frame. The shown portrait measures 8 1/4" x 6 1/4" and the frame measures 10 3/4" x 8 ¾”.
