Offered in this lot is a collection of three books on the "West". The first book is Peter McIntyre's "West". This 1970 book is signed on the title page in blue pen. Peter McIntyre (1910 – 1995) was a New Zealand painter and author who rose to prominence as a result of artwork produced in his capacity as an official war artist during the Second World War. "Peter had previously visited only a few of the larger U.S. cities when his paintings were being exhibited in this country. The Sunset book editors wanted an altogether fresh and different view of the West, through the eyes of an artist who is not only known master of a wide variety of techniques, but is also an acute observer with an outstanding ability to convey his impressions in both graphic and written form.". The book is filled with pen sketches and 56 color plates. The dust jacket is still with this book and has some minor damage. The book measures 14" x 11 1/2".

Photographed in 1904. Edward Sherriff Curtis (1868 – 1952) was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and on Native American people. The 1982 book has over 120 photos in its 159 pages. The book measures 11" x 8 1/2". The third book is 1987 "Exploring The West" by Herman J. Viola. The book describes the early exploration of the West beginning with the Lewis and Clark expedition and looks at the work of scientists, soldiers, and artists. This book still has its dust cover in good condition. The book measures 11" x 9 1/2". These book document in art the exploration of the American west. The books are in good condition.
