Featured in this lot is this collection of San Bushman hunting tools, circa mid 1900's. There are four hunting tools in this collection. The first is a traditional San hunting spear with a solid leaf-like spear point attached, forged with a shaft; it shows a smooth hand crafted shafts with the point held in with rawhide wrapping. The next is a bow with fire hardened limbs and a grip wrapped in rawhide; it shows a rawhide twisted bowstring. The next utensil is a fire hardened digging stick; the stick would be used for digging placements for snares and setting up ambush points for game. The last is a wonderfully made quiver with trade beads decorating the outside of the hide bag; the quiver is constructed from a hollowed out branch and wrapped in rawhide and shows a parfleche lid. The measurements of this San collection are 49 1/8" x 1 1/4" for the San spear, 41 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" for the bow, 26 1/2" x 3/4" x 3/4", and the quiver 27" x 9" x 4".
