For your consideration is a Collection of Seven Iolite Oval & Marquess Gemstones. The collection includes five various carat, precious Iolite gemstones in a professional oval cut, one round cut, and one marquess cut stone. Overall, the stones are a natural silverish blue color and the oval cuts range from .33-2.0ct, the round cut is .17ct, and the marquess cut is 1.5ct. The oval cut stone measure: 3.86 x 5.88 x 2.56 (.33ct), 3.97 x 6.03 x 2.71 (.37ct), 4.08 x 6.14 x 2.64 (.38ct), 3.89 x 5.95 x 3.12 (.41ct), 7.08 x 9.12 x 5.22 (2.0ct). The round cut stones measures 3.88 x 2.49 (.17ct). The marquess stone measures 4.97 x 9.71 x 3.99 (1.5ct). When tanzanite was first discovered, gemologists initially suspected it might be cordierite, a transparent, pleochroic, violet-blue gem known for thousands of years. Today, cordierite is better known by its trade name, iolite, which comes from the Greek word “ios,” meaning “violet.” This collection is in good condition and each piece comes in a protective case.
