For your consideration is this collection of variety service and prop badges. There are six badges in this collection showing a variety of construction and use. The first is a prop from the tap dance group the “Dancing Vigilantes”, as seen on the inscription of the six pointed star with a square over it. The second is a brass Security Guard hat badge with a crest from the business they worked for centered on the shield and an eagle perched on top. The third badge is a replica of an old “Matt Dillon U.S. Marshal” badge from the show Gunsmoke. The next badge is a Constabulary badge from the town of Hoosick, New York. The second to last badge is a Special police badge made from tin and made in Japan. The last badge is a “Deputy Forest Count Sheriff” badge set to a six pointed star. The condition of these badges is fair, with wear and oxidation consistent with use and age. Provenance: From the famed ex-collection of Western History, Jim Aplan. The measurements of these badges range from 2" x 2" to 2 1/2" x 2 1/4.
