For sale in this lot is a beautiful, original condition Colt 1851 Navy, six-shot percussion revolver, chambered for .36 caliber. The Colt Navy is known to be one of the most famous and popular percussion revolvers to come from Americas most celebrated gun maker - Used as a sidearm by both sides of the Civil War, and later carried by lawmen and outlaws alike in the days of the Wild West - Most notably, a pair of Colt 1851 Navy's were carried by Wild Bill Hickock when he was gunned down in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 2nd, 1876. The revolver shows no signs of cleaning, and displays sharp markings, reading; "ADRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" on the top of the barrel, "COLTS - PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and displaying matching serial number "132869" on the barrel, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder. As well, the cylinder is etched with a battle scene between the Texas Navy, and Mexico. Overall, the revolver shows very-good original condition, showing wonderfully aged blue patina on the 7 1/2" octagon barrel, nice one-piece walnut grip panels, with only slight handling wear, and a mellow patina on the brass trigger guard, and grip strap. This revolver is worthy of the finest Civil War, or Western Firearms collections! The percussion revolver qualifies as an Antique Hand Gun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 132869.
