For your consideration is third printing, Sesquicentennial Edition of, "Colt: An American Legend" by R.L. Wilson, photographed by Sid Latham and published by Abbeville Press circa 1985. R. L. Wilson has worked with the various Colt museums in Hartford, Connecticut, since 1959, and is a freelance consultant and author in the disciplines of weapons, collecting, and engraving. Wilson was born in Minnesota and studied history and art as a scholarship student at Carleton College. A resident of Connecticut, he is the author of more than 25 books and 200 articles on firearms and their embellishment. His career began with internships at the Royal Armouries, H.M. Tower of London, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Wadsworth Antheneum, where he was named curator of weapons in 1962. He is the president of the Armor and Arms Club of New York, and he has served on advisory boards or as a consultant on arms-related topics for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the United States Historical Society, the United States Marshals Service, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum. This book provides extensive information about the history, development and significance of firearms.
