Featured in this lot is a Colt Model 1860 Army percussion cap revolver from the Colt Signature Series chambered in .44 caliber. The revolver features an 8" barrel, etched 6 shot cylinder, walnut grips, brass trigger guard, brass blade front sight, and hammer notch rear sight. This was one of the most widely issued and popular revolvers of the Civil War, with many, if not most, going to the West after the war for the Indian Wars or frontier service. This example is complete and functioning. It has matching numbers on the trigger guard, frame, and barrel. Overall, it displays an attractive deep aged patina with no evidence of having been buffed, polished, steel-wooled, or cleaned. This revolver also features the correct 8” barrel with sharp and clear Colt one line address on top, correct small front sight, attached loading lever functions correctly, one piece walnut grips fully intact. It is in excellent overall condition. The cylinder displays an engraved image of sailing ships by W.L. Ormsby and the cylinder is marked "Colt's Patent No. 266 Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New York". The frame, trigger guard, and barrel are marked with matching serial numbers. The revolver displays wonderful condition with tight mechanics and blue'd patina. The revolver comes with the correct Colt Black Powder box and colt inventory box. Serial Number: 217266. This firearm qualifies as an Antique / Black Powder and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. This is an original Colt from the factory and is from the Colt Black Powder Series.*
