Featured in this lot we have a Colt Single Action Army Frontier six-shooter peacemaker Centennial revolver chambered in .44-40 caliber and comes with a leather case. The Colt Frontier or Frontier Six-Shooter was a Colt's 1873 "Model P" type revolver manufactured in .44-40 Winchester caliber, so that it was compatible with Winchester Model 1873 ammunition. Production began in 1877. Colt Frontier Six-Shooter was the actual name of the Colt pistol model, and this was acid-etched on the left side of the barrel. After 1889, the legend was roll-stamped until 1919, when the caliber designation ".44-40" was added. This revolver is a Peacemaker Centennial celebrating 100 years of the Frontier Six Shooter from 1873 to 1973. The revolver displays a long 7 1/2" long round barrel, single action hammer system, six-shot cylinder, checkered rubber grips, and bright finish. The top of the barrel is marked with COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." with the right reading "1873 Peacemaker Centennial 1973" with the left marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". The frame is marked with "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 PAT. JULY. 2. 1872 .44 C.F." The rubber grips display good checkering with a rearing colt medallion and a eagle and shield toward the lower of the grips with a scroll marked "E. Pluribus Unum". The revolver shows matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, and grip strap. The piece comes with a display box showing a leather exterior brown felt lined interior with the interior of the lid displaying a portrait of Sam Colt. The exterior of the piece shows a rearing colt with "1873 Peacemaker Centennial 1973 Cal. 44-40 COLT" with the interior of the case showing a plaque reading "Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the 44-40 cal. Single Action Army Revolver which came to be known as COLT'S :FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER"". The revolver shows good condition with light cylinder wear on the action.. The case shows good condition with little to no wear. The pieces weigh 5lbs 2oz. Serial Number: 1876PC. This is a modern firearm and requires a FFL transfer or NICS background check.
