Included in this lot we have a very hard to find matching set of Single Action Army and Frontier Scout revolvers from Colt. This set features a second generation single action army in .45 LC as well as a matching Frontier Scout in 22LR. This fine condition example of a Colt second generation Single Action Army .45 Colt Cal Revolver. The revolver is correctly marked on the barrel top “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” It has the correct three line patent dates of 1871, 1872 and 1875 on the left of the frame. Additionally, the left barrel is stamped “Colt Single Action Army .45”. The pistol showcases a fine blue factory finish on the barrel, frame and trigger guard. The cylinder shows a high polished nickel finish with slight turn scar from handling. The revolver is fit with a beautifully polished set of cocobolo grips with inlaid medallions. Serial Number: 355212. The Colt Single Action Frontier Scout revolver is chambered in .22 Magnum caliber. The revolver features a blue'd barrel, frame, and trigger guard. The cylinder shows a high polished nickel finish and is stamped “.22 MAG”. The revolver is fit with Cocobolo hardwood grips. The barrel measures 4 ¾” and is marked "Frontier Scout’ 62 .22 Cal." on the left of the barrel and on top “Colt’s PT. F.A. MFG. Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A.”. The Colt revolver shows factory condition which is evident by the crisp blue finish on the frame screws. Serial Number: 04890T. These matching revolvers come with a historical letter from Colt informing the consignor the records for the Single Action Army had been destroyed many years ago. Based on this information it has been presumed that this matching set was put together for an employee’s retirement. The Single Action Army appears to be a build composed of new old stock parts. The revolvers come in a wooden colt factory box with red felt interior. The box shows good condition and measures 16 ¾” x 8 ¾” x 2 ¼”.
