For your consideration is this framed print of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Nathan Bedford Forrest (1821-1877) was a Confederate Army general during the American Civil War. Despite having no official military training, he is frequently recognized as one of the war's most outstanding military leaders. During the war, Forrest worked as a horse merchant and plantation owner while living in poverty in Tennessee where he was born. Due to his skill in cavalry combat, Forrest quickly ascended through the ranks after enlisting in the Confederate Army as a private in 1861. He was renowned for his aggressive strategies, which frequently comprised hit-and-run assaults and surprise attacks against Union forces. At the Battle of Brice's Crossing in 1864, Forrest achieved his most well-known triumph when he routed a Union force that was twice as large as his own. After the war, Forrest became involved in politics and the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group that terrorized African Americans and their allies. Forrest was the first Grand Wizard of the KKK, though he later claimed to have disavowed the group. The print shows a portrait style photo of General Forrest as he looks towards the viewer. He is wearing a Confederate uniform and is holding a sword in his left hand. The print is set in a wood frame and sits behind glass and is double matted with blue and gold colors. The print measures 9 3/4" L x 7 7/8" W. The entire piece measures 17 5/8" L x 15 5/8" W.
