Included in this lot is a Connecticut Arms Bulldog single shot .44 caliber pistol. In 1865, Connecticut Arms introduced the Bulldog pistol based on the same pivoting breech action they had recently invented. A push of the button on top which had a groove cut into it so it could double as a front sight unlocked the breechblock, which rotated to the left. An extractor raised the fired cartridge for removal, and you dropped in a fresh round, then swung it back to close it. The pistol has a four inch octagonal barrel. The .44 version could shoot .44 long and short cartridges. Produced from 1866 to the late 1880s, with a pivoting breechblock for loading. Top barrel flat is marked "CONNECTICUT ARMS & MANF'G CO NAUBUC CONN", the top of the breechblock is marked "PATENTED OCT. 25" and the serial number is marked on the frame under the grips and on the left grip panel. The barrel shows a gorgeous nickel plating with minimal patina. The frame of the pistol has a dark gray appearance indicative of an early age. The pistol is missing the hammer, trigger components and the grip panels. Serial Number: 3895. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
