Featured in this lot is a collection of brass conquistador Spanish tapadero stirrups. The collection consists of three Spanish brass tapaderos and two Spanish copper tapaderos, each showing slightly different design and construction. Tapaderos are used to prevent a rider's feet from slipping through the stirrup, as well as to protect the rider's feet from brush. The pieces show brass or copper construction, with two showing embossed feather designs. The tapaderos show good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The largest of the pieces measures 12" long by 4 1/2" at the widest.
