This lot offers an excellent necklace of Venetian Cornaline D'Aleppo White heart Floral glass beads. These extravagantly beautiful beads have a startlingly, finely detailed Floral Vines pattern inlaid into a deep rose red base bead, which was spun over a hand wound white base bead, creating one of the most complex of Trade Beads, a Two Layer Inlaid Floral "White Heart". The beads were fashioned by hand in the mid-19th century in Venice and brought to Ethiopia, East Africa as Trade Beads. They became treasured, high level Prestige Bead Currency and Dowry Wealth. The beads have a rich red color, often seen in glass beads made with gold, over the white center "hearts". The beads’ average size is 3/8" X 3/8" round. There are seventy nine beads on this necklace, which measures 32". These beads and necklace are in very good condition, with very minor wear and damage as expected with an over 200 year age.
