For your consideration is a Rare First Edition of, "Cow Country" by Will James, 1927. This book covers stories of the West throughout the 1800's to early 1900's and features over 25 illustrations by the author. William Roderick James, "Will", was an acclaimed Canadian-American artist and writer of the American West. He is known for writing "Smoky the Cowhorse", for which he won the 1927 Newbery Medal, and wrote numerous "cowboy" stories for adults and children. His artwork, which predominantly involved cowboy and rodeo scenes, followed "in the tradition of Charles Russell", and much of it was used to illustrate his books. In 1992, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
The rust coloured cloth bound and stamped book is in overall good condition, spine is tight. Scuffing is noted on the cover edges, intact pages exhibit age tanning, no other obvious marring noted, measures 7"W x 9.5"L x 1"D
