Featured in this lot is this original, "Cowboy" oil-on-board painting from renowned Montana artist Carolyn Anderson. The artwork features a cowboy sitting on an American Paint horse and shows the artist’s signature in the bottom left-hand corner. Carolyn Anderson has developed her own singular style, learning from other artists who inspired and supported her, but experimenting with the boundaries of traditional techniques. Artist William Reese called her work “poetry – a poetic painting grows as time goes on.” Anderson, a nationally accomplished oil painter, has an impressive list of awards and honors to her name. In 1999, her work was awarded Best of Show and Artist's Choice awards at the CM Russell Art Auction and a Merit Award at the Northwest Rendezvous Show. Originally hailing from the Chicago area, she attended school at Illinois State University. A tour of service with the VISTA program brought her to Rocky Boy Reservation in north central Montana. Many years later she returned to Montana and made this part of the West her permanent home. where she eventually settled.
