Featured in this lot is this Cripple Creek, Colorado gold miner mercantile scale circa 19th century. The scale features a wonderfully and professionally crafted steel construction that shows a balance scale with graduated weight pucks with the numbers shown as follows: 1oz, 2oz, 4oz, 8oz, 1lb - The scaled is marked 146. Cripple Creek, Colorado, is a historic mining town located in the Rocky Mountains, about 45 miles west of Colorado Springs. It was the site of a major gold rush in the 1890s, which transformed it into one of the most productive gold mining districts in the U.S. At its peak, the town had a population of tens of thousands and was known for its wealth and vibrant activity. The condition of this Gold Miner scale is well preserved with some oxidation to the metal frame and the dish but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this of this scale is 7" x 13" x 11 1/8". The collective weight of this scale is 5lb 10oz.
